Yate Relay For Life is a unique fundraising event for all the family and all fitness levels!
1. Gather your team, and nominate a team captain.
2. Fundraise throughout the year for Cancer Research UK.
3. Walk for 24 hours in your team, keeping one person on the track for the whole 24 hours, camp in the middle of the track!
4. Celebrate your fundraising efforts at the Post Relay Party.
Before Relay
Before the weekend our teams are busy fundraising, holding collections and organising events to raise money!
Opening Ceremony
Gather at the stage for a quick warm up before the opening lap. The join in the opening lap with all the other Relayers! Our opening lap is always lead by our Guest of Honours!
Guest of Honour
Our Guest of Honour are people who have received a cancer diagnosis. We want to salute their courageous journey with cancer and offer them a very special treat.
We invite them to celebrate the amazing work being carried out by Cancer Research UK and everyone else involved in beating cancer sooner.
Themed Laps
We have several themed laps we invite you to take part in. These have a connection to health and wellbeing. We will be announcing 2025's very soon!
Entertainment & Food
There will be plenty of live music, and activities to entertain you throughout the weekend, as well as our cafe for hot food, our fully stocked bar, and other food vendors.
CANDLE OF HOPE
As dusk settles, the whole of Relay pauses and everyone comes together to remember those lost to cancer in our emotional Candle of Hope ceremony.
Candle bags dedicated with messages to loved ones lost to cancer line the track, and we all walk together to Hope Hill, where "HOPE" is lit bright throughout the night to show that cancer never sleeps.
Overnight
We continue to walk overnight to show that cancer never sleeps, the music is turned down and people camp in the middle of the track.
Closing Ceremony
We celebrate the achievements of our Relayers at the closing ceremony the next day, and invite everyone to join for the Post Relay Party for the final total reveal.
