THE CANDLE OF HOPE CEREMONY

Lighting The Way To Hope

The ceremony starts as all relayers come together in a torch lit lap walking and lighting the way to Hope Hill.

The Ceremony

At Hope Hill, the word Hope is lit up in candle bags, and candle bags dedicated to loved ones line the track. The ceremony consists of refective music, a short reading and minute silence.

After the ceremony we all join for one final lap of Hope. This signals the end of the ceremony

After the Ceremony

Music is turned down, as Relayers walk thoughout the night. Candle bags stay lit throughout the night to remind people why we relay.

One of the most poignant parts of Relay, is the Candle of Hope Ceremony. This is when the whole Relay stops for 10 minutes so we can all remember those who we have lost to cancer, and also those still fighting.

Candle Bags

Dedicate a Candle Bag to a loved one who may be going through cancer or passed away to cancer.

You can dedicate a Candle Bag on the weekend at The Relay Hub, or pick one up at our monthly coffee mornings.
