WHAT IS RELAY?

A Community United Against Cancer

Every year, families, friends, colleagues and local businesses come together for one unforgettable weekend.

Together we raise money for life-saving cancer research, celebrate those who have faced cancer, remember loved ones we’ve lost, and show that no one has to face cancer alone.

At Yate Relay For Life, teams spend the year fundraising before coming together for a 24-hour relay event where someone from each team is always on the track.

Anyone can join, no matter age or ability, and can walk, run, hop, skip or jump around the track!

Because cancer never sleeps. Neither do we.

YOUR RELAY JOURNEY

STEP 1: Build your team

Gather friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours or club members. Teams can be as small as 2 people. The more in you team the less walking you’ll need to go!

Choose a Team Captain and decide how you’ll fundraise together.

STEP 2: Start your fundraising

We encourage all our teams to do year round fundraising, whether thats bake sales, quiz nights, mufti days at school, the possibilities are endless.

You’ll also have your own unique JustGiving page to share with friends and family!

STEP 3: The weekend arrives

Here’s the best bit! For 24 hours, teams take turns walking the track.

At least one team member stays on the track at all times, symbolising our determination to beat cancer.

Expect live entertainment, food, activities, themed laps and plenty of fun along the way. Collect a bead for every lap you walk to track how far you go!

Led by our Guests of Honour, the opening ceremony marks the start of an incredible weekend.

CANDLE OF HOPE

CANDLE OF HOPE

As darkness falls, the atmosphere changes.

Hundreds of candle bags line the track, each dedicated to someone affected by cancer.

Together we pause to remember, reflect and look towards a future where more lives are saved.

Through The Night

Through The Night

As the everyone sleeps, Relay continues.

The quiet overnight hours are a powerful reminder that cancer never stops- and neither does our determination to beat it.

Team members continue to walk throughout the night, with our 24 hour DJ playing quiet music to keep them motivated.
